Interest Areas

I aim to provide a compassionate and safe space for clients to receive understanding and a nonjudgemental approach, to working on the issues for which they are seeking help.  I like to tailor my approach depending on the individual or family’s needs, and to very much honor the expertise of those who consult me, as well as sharing the expertise that I am able to provide.

I have been a Registered Psychologist since 2006, and a counsellor and family therapist for over 20 years.  I enjoy working across the lifespan, and I have had much experience working across a range of demographics and populations (both in non-government and private sectors), as well working in schools.

When working with children, I work with an attachment framework, as I very much want to support the enduring environments in which children grow and develop.  I am passionate about providing support to parents/caregivers, acknowledging that parenting can be one of the most rewarding but often challenging roles in one’s lifetime.

I use evidence-based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion Focused Therapy, Mindfulness and Somatic Approaches, Narrative Therapy, Attachment focused therapy, Psychotherapy, Family Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and various play therapies for children.  I have a firm commitment to ongoing learning and I update and expand my knowledge frequently.  I believe that I learn just as much from those who consult me, as I do from formal trainings and research.

I have particular interest in working with many presentations including:
Anxiety and worry, Depression and Sadness, Grief/loss and adjusting to transitions, Stress, Trauma, Obsessive compulsive challenges, Phobias, Perfectionism, Sleep issues, Body image and eating concerns, Parenting challenges, LGBTIQA+, Challenges with addiction, Bullying, Friendship and relationship issues, Study stress and study skills training, Emotional and behavioural challenges, Supporting children/teens and parents after parental separation (please note that I do not provide court reports or advice regarding parenting arrangements), Autism (providing therapy but not assessments), ADHD (providing therapy but not assessments)
