Interest Areas
Janine Galpin is an experienced registered psychologist with over 20 years of working with children and adolescents. She has expertise in conducting comprehensive psychological assessments as well as providing a variety of therapeutic interventions to assist with young people’s negative thinking and personal difficulties.
She has many years of experience supporting families and students with disabilities and learning difficulties, as well as assisting with students to manage their personal circumstances by using more positive thinking or providing psychoeducation, and helping to identify and assist with depression, anxiety and other mental health issues related to children and teenagers. She uses a variety of evidence- based therapeutic models including Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).
Janine completed her undergraduate studies at The Flinders University of South Australia, initially studying the arts and education before completing further studies in psychology at Macquarie University in NSW and The University of Western Australia and Edith Cowan University in Western Australia where she achieved a Bachelor of Psychology. She became a registered psychologist with the SA Psychology Board prior to registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and has since worked with children and adolescents in educational settings for both South Australia and New South Wales, as well as with an agency supporting children with disabilities. Janine is also a Board-Approved Supervisor and enjoys teaching others about psychology and supervising provisional psychologists to registration.
Outside of her career, Janine has raised three boys and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is also a keen supporter of the arts and loves attending art galleries, music and theatre performances. Janine is very pleased to have returned to South Australia where she enjoys eating out, walking on the beaches, and visiting wineries.
Janine has a passion for working with young people and their families and is keen to share her many years of experience as a psychologist to support those requiring assistance across numerous psychological needs.
